For that extra special celebratory or wedding gift a personalised message can be hand written on a ceramic piece by Richard. The lettering, which is applied with a black ceramic pen, is dishwasher and oven proof. Personalisation, which costs a set charge of £4.50 per item, can usually be turned around within a couple of days but can take longer if Richard is away on location painting. We will advise you about this and you will have the option of cancelling your inscription if it is likely to take too long. Inscriptions can be written on the front or back of individual pieces, using common sense on the number of characters according to the space available. If choosing to have your inscription on the front, we recommend choosing pieces that have no text already fired on, as the thickness of the pen will not match the existing text.

Caring for inscribed pieces

Although the inscription is dishwasher proof, as it is applied to the surface and not fired into the glaze, therefore can scour off. If the piece is going to be used it is best written on the underneath side. When hand washing we advise lightly wiping the area of the hand written inscription only. Also best not to leave to soak but, if you do, just to let the piece drip-dry on a side without using a drying cloth over the handwritten text.
